I got this letter emailed to me today and wanted to spread it as much as possible, so here you go.
I don't know who wrote this, but Amen to them................
THIS WAS WRITTEN BY A SOLDIER IN IRAQ. (probably about 7/7/09)
(He writes:) Okay, I need to rant.
I was just watching the news, and I caught part of a report on Michael Jackson. As we all know, Jackson died the other day. He was an entertainer who performed for decades. He made millions, he spent millions, and he did a lot of things that make him a villain to many people.
I understand that his death would affect a lot of people, and I respect those people who mourn his death, but that isn't the point of my rant.
Why is it that when ONE man dies, the whole of America loses their minds with grief. When a man dies whose only contribution to the country was to ENTERTAIN people, the American people find the need to flock to a memorial in Hollywood , and even Congress sees the need to hold a "moment of silence" for his passing?
Am I missing something here? ONE man dies, and all of a sudden he's a freaking martyr because he entertained us for a few decades? What about all those SOLDIERS who have died to give us freedom? All those Soldiers who, knowing that they would be asked to fight in a war, still raised their hands and swore to defend the Constitution and the United States of America .
Where is there moment of silence? Where are the people flocking to their graves or memorials and mourning over them because they made the ultimate sacrifice? Why is it when a Soldier dies, there are more people saying "good riddance," and "thank God for IEDs?" When did this country become so calloused to the sacrifice of GOOD MEN and WOMEN, that they can arbitrarily blow off their deaths, and instead,
throw themselves into mourning for a "Pop Icon?"
I think that if they are going to hold a moment of silence IN CONGRESS for Michael Jackson, they need to hold a moment of silence for every service member killed in Iraq and Afghanistan . They need to PUBLICLY recognize every life that has been lost so that the American people can live their callous little lives in the luxury and freedom that WE, those that are living and those that have gone on, have provided for them. But, wait, that would take too much time, because there have been so many willing to make that sacrifice. After all, we will never make millions of dollars. We will never star in movies, or write hit songs that the world will listen to.
We only shed our blood, sweat and tears so that people can enjoy what they have.
Sorry if I have offended, but I needed to say it. Feel free to pass this along if you want.
Remember these five words the next time you think of someone who is serving in the military; "So that others may live..."

The disgrace known as "The View"
Well, I made this blog for when I felt like venting, so here we go.
On Wednesday, Glenn Beck was on "The View". In the first segment, he was repeatedly called a liar and was screamed at for 7 minutes. His audacious lie? He forgot who said hello first on a train ride: Him or "Baba Wawa" (aka Barbara Walters). So for 7 minutes, Barbara and Whoopi yelled and belittled Glenn and called him a liar. They even asked him why he did not check his facts (even though he did, and had they, they would have known he corrected himself later on the SAME show).
The whole conversation was one of the most ridiculous and petty arguments I have ever seen. I knew there would be yelling and frustration involved, but I figured it would be on substance (after all, it was Hot Topics week). The fact that all they could talk about for 7 minutes was who said hi first on the train is disgusting. I am fine with people having their own opinions on topics, but can't we act our age or at least respect the guest on your show?
We have become a society in which we seek a reason to be offended, and once we feel offended, we act as if we can not be wrong on the topic at hand. Barbara and Whoopi should be ashamed of themselves for how they acted on Wednesday. I would say the same to Joy Behar, but I think if I talk about her enough, I will go insane.
Once the first segment was done, they got into some topics, which I then was fine with the arguing. At least they were discussing topics. It was interesting to note that once they actually discussed topics (and still disagreed at the same level as before), Glenn was not called a liar. So he is a liar when he mistakenly forgets a miniscule point that does not matter, but when he disagrees, he is not a liar, he is just mistaken. I don't get it either, but whatever.
Anyways, I vented, I feel a little better, but not much. Hopefully someday, we can all debate with each other and not be considered the devil just because we disagree.
LIAR!!!!!

My plea for John McCain
Well, we are a week out from the election, and I have decided to try one more time to get a John McCain vote. If you are an Obama voter, please read this with an open mind. If you are already voting for McCain, then read it to affirm why you are.
First off, in all sincerity, John McCain was probably not in my top 5 for people I wanted as the Republican nomination when this circus began. I was a Mike Huckabee supporter from the start and was saddened to see him bow out. Once it was John McCain, I was honestly not sure who I was going to vote for.
After the last roughly six months of squabbling going on, I know that I am forced to make a choice between McCain and Obama. And with that in mind, I have to vote for McCain.
The single most important topic I am voting for in this election is the economy. Without a strong fundamental economy, our country will crumble. There are other things I would love to see taken care of in the future (immigration problem, the War, etc.), but right now, it is imperative we slow down the crisis. While members on both sides of the political spectrum have messed this up, I believe that an Obama presidency would spiral us out of control. We must stop Washington spending for a brief time while we get our feet back on track.
What I fear, and I honestly do not mean this as an insult, is that many people voting for Obama are doing so mainly by feelings. When I listen to Obama speak, I too get a great feeling of pride and optimism for this country. But after listening to his speeches and actually looking at what he has said he would do, we would basically turn back into Europe, which is what we escaped from to become America.
I did not really go into too many details, but I challenge Obama supporters to honestly tell me why you are voting for him. I want to have a week long debate and I want it to be a serious discussion. Please let me know why you are voting for Obama and maybe you can change my vote, as I am still not 100% thrilled with McCain.
So if you want to be a part of this challenge, one way or another, message me your top three issues in this election and why you think Obama is a better pick on it. I will reply and try to persuade that maybe McCain is better.
The time is now, and the election is almost over. Stand up for Obama this week! Let's fight this out!

Day 2 of the RNC
Well, day 2 of the 2008 Republican National has come to a close, and I think there was some good and bad things that came out of it.
The bad parts obviously had to do with the riots and protests going on outside. Police used tear gas on the crowds and there was a lot of confusion. I am not sure who I agree with more, but I think that both sides need to come to an understanding that peaceful protests are fine, as long as they are not a threat or disturbance to the people trying to live throughout the area.
I think the highlight of the night was definitely Fred Thompson's. Now, I had a general idea of what John McCain's P.O.W. experience was like, but to here it the way that Fred said it really illustrated what the man went through. With that came humor and punches thrown. It really got the crowd going, both at Xcel and at my house!
Tomorrow is going to be the big ticket in terms of big names. Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and Sarah Palin will all be speaking. Since I, like most of the country, don't know a lot about the VP nominee, I look forward to hearing what she wants to say. Talk to you all tomorrow!

The Race is on!
Well, now that the Republicans are in St. Paul, it seems like a good time for me to be updating this blog.
I have watched most of the speeches from the DNC, and was quite impressed with a few of them. I think Bill Clinton made a very good speech. He got the crowd going and did what he needed to do that night. I also think that Hillary gave a speech that fit her role. I have not watched Obama's speech yet, but I look forward to watching it tonight.
John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate, and I have been given mixed reviews from people. I believe this was a very strong pick for many reasons, and, if I am honest, one of them is that she is a woman. If you look at this as a strictly political points game, she will probably be able to bring in much of the female vote, but we shall see.
Just wanted to add a quick note here and I hope I will keep blogging now that we are getting down to the fun part of the race. Let me know what you think or what topic I should talk about!

Welcome
Hello and welcome. I just wanted to explain this blog a little.
From the courts to the media, all traces of common sense seem to be leaving our country. I wanted to start this blog as a place to both vent my frustration as well as engage in dialogue with people who disagree. So please, enjoy.
