My plea for John McCain

Well, we are a week out from the election, and I have decided to try one more time to get a John McCain vote. If you are an Obama voter, please read this with an open mind. If you are already voting for McCain, then read it to affirm why you are.

First off, in all sincerity, John McCain was probably not in my top 5 for people I wanted as the Republican nomination when this circus began. I was a Mike Huckabee supporter from the start and was saddened to see him bow out. Once it was John McCain, I was honestly not sure who I was going to vote for.

After the last roughly six months of squabbling going on, I know that I am forced to make a choice between McCain and Obama. And with that in mind, I have to vote for McCain.

The single most important topic I am voting for in this election is the economy. Without a strong fundamental economy, our country will crumble. There are other things I would love to see taken care of in the future (immigration problem, the War, etc.), but right now, it is imperative we slow down the crisis. While members on both sides of the political spectrum have messed this up, I believe that an Obama presidency would spiral us out of control. We must stop Washington spending for a brief time while we get our feet back on track.

What I fear, and I honestly do not mean this as an insult, is that many people voting for Obama are doing so mainly by feelings. When I listen to Obama speak, I too get a great feeling of pride and optimism for this country. But after listening to his speeches and actually looking at what he has said he would do, we would basically turn back into Europe, which is what we escaped from to become America.

I did not really go into too many details, but I challenge Obama supporters to honestly tell me why you are voting for him. I want to have a week long debate and I want it to be a serious discussion. Please let me know why you are voting for Obama and maybe you can change my vote, as I am still not 100% thrilled with McCain.
